An Invitation

On behalf of the Southwestern and Rocky Mountain (SWARM) Division of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), we are pleased to invite you to participate in the Division’s 82nd Annual Multidisciplinary Meeting, to take place on the campus of the University of Houston-Clear Lake at the Bayou Building, April 18-21, 2007. Members of AAAS, students, teachers, and other scientists are encouraged to participate and to submit symposia, workshops, oral papers and/or posters. The meeting is open to all areas of the sciences and you need not be a current member of AAAS to participate. Meeting jointly with AAAS SWARM Division will be the University of Houston-Clear Lake 13th Annual Student Conference for Research and Creative Arts. We look forward to your participation. Register on-line today and join us in dynamic Houston!

Why Should I Attend?

The multi- and interdisciplinary annual meetings of the SWARM Division of the American Association for the Advancement of Science have a long and illustrious eighty-one year history and provide a rare, but much needed venue for various aspects of the entire scientific community to come together in one easily accessed location at one time. The SWARM Annual Meeting is an avenue where education, research, collaboration, and networking intersect. The 2007 meetings will bring together the latest in research from a variety of scientific disciplines and will be complimented by outstanding speakers. Our meetings provide a very friendly and relaxed forum for the exchange of state-of-the-art research methods and recent findings that will advance the role of science and help foster new collaborations between researchers in academia, business, and government. Students are strongly encouraged to participate and will gain valuable experiences to aid them in their professional development.

How do I Submit an Abstract for Presentation?

Symposia/Workshop Proposals: Proposals are now being accepted for special topic symposia and workshops. Although, SWARM is interested in receiving submissions from all scientific inquiry, we are particularly interested in receiving submissions dealing with research which is multi- and interdisciplinary in nature, projects dealing with issues particularly relevant to the Southwestern and Rocky Mountain states, and topics focusing on aspects of science education (i. e., Evolution vs. Intelligent Design, K-12 and undergraduate science education, and minorities in science). Persons wishing to develop a workshop and/or symposium for the 2007 Houston meeting should email the proposed workshop/symposium title and abstract, the organizer(s) name(s), affiliation(s), contact information, possible participants, and amount of time required for the symposium/workshop to the SWARM Executive Office: dtnash@aaas-swarm.org. If accepted, the Executive Director will contact you for additional information and instructions, if required. Deadline for submissions is Feb. 17, 2007.

Contributed Papers/Posters: Persons wishing to submit an abstract for an oral presentation (20 minutes, unless previous arrangements have been made) in one of the disciplinary sections or a poster should register on-line at this web site under the registration button. Deadline for abstract submission is Feb. 17, 2007.

ON LINE REGISTRATION BEGINS OCTOBER 27, 2006
